Student Life at Mercer

Wondering how to make the most of student life at Mercer? We can help with that! Mercer has a jam-packed events calendar and over 165 student organizations to explore. Also, you can see what a day in the life of our Mercer students looks like here:

1. Service

Mercer On Mission Vietnam trip

Start simple by volunteering at MerServe’s Service Saturdays. Once you’ve done that, you can branch out. Participate in Be a Good NeighBear, a day of service and volunteering in the Macon community. Or you can take your service global and participate in a Mercer On Mission, a study abroad and service-learning experience, in locations such as Rwanda, Vietnam, and South Africa.

2. Athletics

From basketball to ballroom dancing, Mercer provides the best (and the most fun) ways to be active. You can get involved with intramural or club sports like club soccer or intramural kickball. And if you’re not as into playing the sport, you can cheer on your favorite athletic teams with Mercer Maniacs! Students get free entry to home games at Mercer!

3. Academics

Academic involvement is strongly encouraged on campus, and there are lots of options, including Mercer Math Club, National Society of Black Engineers, Spanish Club, Robotics Club, Delta Sigma Pi, and much more. These kinds of organizations are good if you want to keep up an old interest, explore a new topic, or make friends.

4. Pre-Professional Groups

Calling all pre-professionals! Are you Pre-Med? Pre-Law? Pre-anything? Join a society or association in your specific pre-professional track so that you can make the most of your opportunities at Mercer. The Pre-Law Society, Pre-Physician Assistant Association, Pre-PT Club (and more) are excellent ways to meet others in your field of study and some all-time prime friends!

5. Religious Life

If you are a religious person, there’s always a place for you at Mercer, regardless of your specific faith. From the Muslim Student Association to Delight Ministries, Wesley Foundation, Reformed University Fellowship, and so much more, there are many ways to stay connected to your religion with our faith-based organizations on campus.

6. Events

Who doesn’t love fun things? Or FREE T-shirts? One thing is for sure—you’ll never get bored on campus. Our on-campus activity planning board, QuadWorks, holds weekly events for you and your friends to enjoy! Not to mention the other events hosted by individual clubs and organizations. You can participate in game nights and win prizes, or get your friends together for Bearstock, a free concert held on campus every year. It’s always buzzing with activity on campus!

7. Special Interests

There’s an abundance of clubs that cater to your special interests and skill sets. There’s TedxMercerUniversity, Mercer Astronomy Student Association (MASA), and Mercer Car Club, to name a few. In addition, never forget that you can always bring something new to the table. If you can’t find an organization that’s right for you, bring something new to the table! Find some students with the same interests and start a new organization together.
