Nationally Ranked
Our team competes against prestigious institutions such as Notre Dame, UC Berkley, Harvard, and Rice on a regular basis. Mercer ranked third in the nation at the National Parliamentary Debate Association Tournament, and our success has been recognized by WGXA, 13WMAZ, and the Macon Telegraph.
Diverse Voices
At Mercer, we major in changing the world and this has held true for centuries. The first Black male and female speakers to win a debate in the nation were Mercer debaters. We continue to encourage diverse voices and different perspectives which creates the value of debating.
A Place to Find your Voice
At many universities, students want to express their opinions and seek change inside and outside their campuses. Many students need a place to share their thoughts with others and engage in conversations that need to be had. Our team encourages those whose voices are not being heard to take up space and show up boldly. We want to hear from you.
Victorious across the Country
Our team's success is evident. Mercer won the second half of the Mile High Swing, one of the most prestigious debate competitions, defeating Penn State and UC Berkeley. Mercer also competes in nationwide debates such as the Gaske Memorial Invitational Tournament, where Mercer debaters have won top speaker awards.
